Complete the Initiation checklist

Mode: how-to. Lay an approved investment’s foundations by working the Initiation checklist.

The morning after approval is a distinct shape of work: turning a funded thesis into a running investment. Tollgate surfaces a visible-but-non-blocking Initiation checklist on Investment Health that composes itself deterministically from your registers. It never blocks a save and never emails you — it just shows what a well-founded investment has in place.

  1. Open the project’s Tollgate tab and the Investment Health view. The Initiation checklist appears near the top for a newly approved investment.
  2. Set up the work-package structure. Add coarse work packages with named owners on the Work Packages tab, and set their baselines. Until baselines are set, the derived RAG pillars stay muted.
  3. Operationalise Adoption & Change. Turn the Business Case’s Adoption quartet into a live Adoption work package.
  4. Seed the risk register. Log the risks and opportunities you already know about on the Risks tab.
  5. Confirm the reporting cadence (weekly or monthly) for the investment.
  6. Log the foundational decisions on the Decisions tab — the early choices that set the investment’s shape.
  7. Induct the steering committee and hold the first meeting.

As you complete each item, the checklist updates itself from the register data — there’s nothing to tick manually.

The checklist recedes on its own once the foundations are laid:

  1. It clears automatically when you hold the first steering committee (recorded by presenting the dashboard), or
  2. after 14 days, once you explicitly acknowledge it.
